Rubio to Attend G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Paris

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to travel to France this weekend for a meeting of G7 foreign ministers in Paris on November 9 and 10. The trip will be his first international travel since the U.S. midterm elections, the Associated Press reported.
France, which holds the G7 presidency, says ministers will coordinate positions on major international issues, with a focus on crisis resolution. The meeting follows a gathering of G20 foreign ministers in Atlanta last weekend.
Ukraine, Iran and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea are among the issues expected to feature in discussions, according to AP. The meeting also comes as U.S. allies seek clarity on the Trump administration’s approach to international conflicts and other shared priorities.
France has also invited Brazil, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Ukraine to take part in some of the discussions. The two-day meeting is part of the G7’s regular coordination among the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom.
