The 97th Academy Awards unfolded as a night of refined yet bold fashion statements, with stars unveiling their most dazzling ensembles for the grandest red carpet event of the year.

This awards season has leaned toward understated elegance and moody, single-tone looks, but Hollywood’s elite turned up the glamour at LA’s Dolby Theatre on Sunday, embracing shine, sparkle, and metallic hues. Highlights included Halle Berry’s mirror-like Christian Siriano gown, reminiscent of a disco ball, and Demi Moore’s Swarovski-studded Armani Privé dress, both showcasing the artistry of intricate embroidery.

The details were jaw-dropping: Selena Gomez’s Ralph Lauren look, channeling Sophia Loren, sparkled with more than 16,000 glass droplets. Lupita Nyong’o’s pleated ivory Chanel gown featured over 22,000 embroidered elements, with pearl-strung straps adding a luxurious touch. Meanwhile, Ariana Grande captivated in a Schiaparelli dress—fresh from the Spring-Summer 2025 Haute Couture runway—adorned with over 190,000 crystal sequins, rhinestones, and cut beads, lending her tulle skirt a mesmerizing, radiant glow.

Cynthia Erivo, Grande’s “Wicked” co-star, turned heads with one of the night’s most striking ensembles, stepping out in a deep green Louis Vuitton gown featuring a dramatic collar and oversized bow. Scarlett Johansson embraced plush velvet in a sweeping Thierry Mugler gown, paired with coordinating evening gloves. Satin, however, stole the spotlight as the fabric of choice for many standouts, with “Anora” actress Mikey Madison and Raffey Cassidy shining in streamlined Louis Vuitton and Loewe designs, respectively.

The men mostly kept it classic, though a few brought flair: Jeff Goldblum sported floral accents in Prada, while Bowen Yang rocked an embroidered leather Etro jacket. Timothée Chalamet leaned into leather with a buttery yellow Givenchy suit. The night’s standout tuxedo, though, might have belonged to Blackpink’s Lisa—now a “White Lotus” star—whose Markgong gown reimagined traditional menswear with a graceful, feminine twist.
