Dolly Parton Estate Seeks to Dismiss Complaint Against Nephew

Dolly Parton’s estate company has moved to dismiss its complaint against Bryan Seaver, the late singer’s nephew and former head of security, according to court filings reported by The Associated Press and The Wall Street Journal. The filing was made Thursday in a Tennessee court.

She’s Alive, the company established to manage and protect Parton’s estate, had obtained a temporary restraining order against Seaver and his security firm in September. The complaint alleged that Seaver threatened the estate and its employees. Seaver denied threatening anyone in court filings and said his messages had been taken out of context.

The new filing seeks a dismissal without prejudice, which means the complaint could be brought again. It gives no reason for the withdrawal. A separate filing the day before said the sides had reached an agreement, but did not describe its terms.

The dismissal request still requires a judge’s approval. The court update does not resolve the underlying allegations, and neither side’s filing sets out a public account of any agreement.
