Wembanyama’s 52-Point Night Gives Spurs a Historic Win Over Dallas
Victor Wembanyama delivered a career-best 52 points and 24 rebounds, adding eight blocks as the San Antonio Spurs edged the Dallas Mavericks 112-111. The Wednesday night performance made the 7-foot-4 center the first NBA player since Bob McAdoo in 1974 to record at least 50 points, 20 rebounds and five blocks in one game.

Wembanyama’s line combined scoring, rebounding and rim protection in a single night. He shot 16-for-28 from the field, including seven dunks, while San Antonio was 23 points better than Dallas during his time on the floor, according to the Associated Press report published by NBA.com.
The Spurs needed every contribution in a one-point finish. Wembanyama made the go-ahead free throw with 24.2 seconds left, and Dallas’ final chance did not produce the points needed to take the lead. The victory extended San Antonio’s winning streak to six games.
The center had already built an unusual statistical night by halftime, with 29 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks. That made him the first player in the NBA’s play-by-play era, which began in 1996-97, to reach at least 25 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks in a half.
Wembanyama said afterward that he had been dealing with an illness and felt there was still room to improve. He also rolled an ankle during the fourth quarter, but remained in the game. The milestone came only days after he was named Western Conference Player of the Week.
San Antonio now takes its six-game run on the road, with a matchup against Sacramento next. The Kings will face a Spurs team whose recent surge has been powered by Wembanyama’s two-way impact and growing role in close games.
